Captain Shakey’s: BIG snob ang kagang! Grrr..
Usa ka adlaw ni-ana, day before Sinulog gud, after 5 hours ug meeting de avance kung asa mi mangaon, naka-decide na jud nga sa Shakey’s Pizza kay wala pa kuno kakaon ang uban didto. Dili man sad mi sa Jollibee ug McDo kay abi palang poor. Char! Feeling rich lang jud mi ato nga time. Ug kung KFC tingali ma-abtan mi ug kadlawon maglinya ug magtulon nalang mi sa among laway tibuok gabie. So Shakey’s nalang!
Mao to, sulod dayon mi… Piktsur-piktsur… Istorya dinaghan… Ug sa dihang naay dili ingon nato nga naabot… Si Captain Shakey’s!!! Sa mga wala nakabalo sama namo, ma-shock jud mo nga naa sad diay mascot ang Shakey’s. Ang iyang outfit kay pang-superhero. Naglibog jud ko kay unsay relasyon sa pizza ug superhero?
Nibarog si Nady para magpapiktsur. Pose si Nady ug si Captain Shakey’s. Click. Flash! Yey! Ug ako ni-ingon: “Sige sige, ako nasad”. With matching barog ug super big smile. Ready na kaayo ko mu-shine! Sakto bah nga pagbarog nako para magpapiktsur nilakaw ang kagang nga mascot? Grrrr!!! Gi-deadma sa bayot ang akong ka-anyag.. Grrrr!!! Mao to, padung sa pultahan sa ilang office ang mascot, pag-abli sa pultahan… Lock! Hahahahahaha!!! (evil laugh mode) Nakabaws jud ko!!! Hahahahaha!!! Nibalik sa agi.. Padung namo… Ako gi-atngan… Sakto bah nga gi-”talk-to-the-hand” gesture ko?!?! Unsa man? Normal ra kaayo ko tan-awon para magpapiktsur ug alien-look-alike? Kevs nimo Captain Shakey’s. Mulingkod nalang ko. Tuo sad ka sikat ka dah! Hmmmpf!
Ug sa dihang sa paglingkod namo, iya gitudlo ang ako gwapa nga amiga. Na-insulto akitch! Pishti! Adto sya magpapiktsur ni April. Si April nga murag naka-feel sa pagkamanyakis ni Captain Shakey’s kay wala nagpapiktsur! Hahahahaha! Dah! Mao to, nibalik nasad sa door sa ilang office, dili naman lock so nagdisappear na si Captain Shakey’s. Nilupad sa angay niyang luparan… Bye Captain Shakey’s! In pernes makalingaw bya ka bisan dili ka magpapiktsur nako…

Joann And Nady’s Goal For The Year (Ebeb might join too..Haha)
We don’t even know what happened to our sense of judgement during that jeepney ride but after seeing and surprisingly realized that Shakey’s Pizza has, indeed, a mascot with a superhero costume and having experienced what a snob the mascot is since it declined posing for us for pictures until we put it in a cage and threw the key to the deepest fathoms of the sea. Anyways, the mascot posed with us with great and utter hesitation.
In the jeepney ride for Labangon, me and Nady, while talking about the Shakey’s event just came up with the idea that we should have a picture with all fastfood chain mascots in the Phillipines. We haven’t talked to Ebeb about this but being a cool girl, maybe she’ll be on with this stupid idea. And so the quest is on!
Our plan is to start off with the famous Jollibee. Our all time favorite mascot! We’ll be lucky if we ever get to see KFC’s mascot who is dressed as a chicken and we would definitely like to meet Hetty too. She’s that mascot dressed representing the spaghetti community.
So I’ve researched about all fastfood mascots and I’ve come up with this list.

So far, that’s is the list. Maybe some restaurants and fastfood chains have their mascots so we’ll just update the list when we see a new and unknown walking creature in town. I hope by the end of this year will be finished with this damn list! Help!
French Fries War
The French Fries War. I don’t know when this started but I just noticed that the three famous fast food chains here in the Philippines is having a french fries war. I’ve never been a fan of this potato-sliced-into-strips-and-deep-fried dish they commonly call french fries since I’m a chicken girl (you know what I mean, it’s not synonymous to cowardice). But after having my dentist put me in constant excruciating agony by changing the good little colorful elastics of my braces into those nasty elastic ligature, I am now in a constant diet of french fries and spaghetti whenever I am in a fast food chain. Sooo horrible.
So there’s McDonalds with their Twister Fries and their ordinary French Fries dusted with salt. Never tried the twister fries but I think there ordinary fries are quite decent enough to eat. Crispy and salty and the serving is adequate for the money you’ve paid it for. I once tried their flavored fries and I hate them. Better stick with the ketchup and salt.
Jollibee Fries. They taste a little bit crappy compared to the McDonald’s fries but then they’re more adventurous to eat. They have dips with different flavors. You don’t have to stick with the classic ketchup and salt, you can have cheese dips and other dips. But then some dips are gross.
The most unique in taste and appearance is the KFC fries. They have this new Mini Bucket of Fries which I like and it comes with a cool container. I don’t know about you but I’ve never had ketchup with my KFC fries, I dip it in gravy which usually comes with the fries. Maybe I’ll try ketchup next time.
